A call simulation exercise highlighted the said “Career Talk” with headsets worn by volunteers who answered calls of CCA Angeles trainer Tanya Barredo, using scripts given by the latter. With each call lasting for 1 minute, the exercise gave Angeles residents a taste of what it is like to work in a call center.
With the newly opened CCA Angeles branch, citizens of the city can now enroll in the International Call Center Proficiency (ICCP) Program for daytime and nighttime classes. The ICCP Program improves the student's skills in sales as well as telemarketing, English communication, and customer service plus students also learn American culture and geography.
Moreover, enrollees in CCA Angeles now have a better chance of working in call centers – the average hiring rate is 2 to 5 percent, or out of 100, only 2 to 5 are hired by call centers. CCA can now train the citizens of Angeles to be good enough to pass the strict screening standards of call centers.
Being near the Clark Economic Zone where several major call centers and business process outsource (BPO) firms are located, CCA Angeles is planning on servicing these companies with its local graduates. And, in the long run, contribute to the projected demand of 730,000 people for the industry by 2010 (with estimated revenue at $7.3B for the country).
